Devon Ruby, LMT

Tera Peters, LMT
Devon, the owner of Tranquil Vitality Massage & Wellness, dreamt of a holistic health center for women starting in 2020 but lets flashback to her high school years first.
As a competitive cheerleader the majority of her childhood, she put a lot of stress on her body. She had been seeing a chiropractor since she was a two week old baby due to torticollis, and started seeing a massage therapist, who was a family friend, on occasion around the age of fourteen. Being in such an active sport, Devon discovered her love for anatomy and physiology as a senior in high school. She talked about going to massage school with the massage therapist her family knew, and that sparked a lot of interest for getting into the field. At the time, college was the route to go according to society, so that's where she started. Devon attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and started as a Nutrition major. She enjoyed nutrition but knew she didn't want to become a Dietitian. After that discovery, she wanted to leave IUP and go to massage school, but continued her journey for a bachelors degree. Jumping around to a few different majors she finally landed in Exercise Science, which she enjoyed and fit into her love for anatomy and physiology perfectly. During her senior year at IUP she still found interest in becoming a massage therapist and started looking into schools.
Devon finished her internship with a health screening company and graduated from IUP with a bachelors in Exercise Science and a Nutrition minor. She decided to attend massage therapy school at the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy.
She started massage school in October 2014 and graduated in October of 2015. Massage school changed a lot for her. She started her journey of toxin free living by changing to more natural products, getting off of birth control and working on changing her diet. She had some great experiences during school like massaging players at Steelers football camp and also attending a cadaver lab.

After graduating from massage school she had intentions of obtaining a job in Exercise Science and also Massage Therapy. She ended up only with jobs in massage therapy. She really gained a lot of experience in the five different jobs she worked in her first year as a licensed massage therapist. The most unique being the poker room at the Rivers Casino and most meaningful, which helped her discover herbal medicine, was working at The Health Help formerly located in Butler. The job that got her working in Ford City was at Elevate Health Chiropractic (formerly Mantini Chiropractic).
Fast forward a few years, life and kids happened. The few days a week she worked were spent at Bella Day Spa and Elevate Health Chiropractic.

In 2020 a lot changed for her. Amidst a spiritual awakening and a global pandemic Devon decided to open her own massage business located in downtown Ford City. With dreams of some day expanding and opening a holistic health center catering mainly to women she spent the next three years evolving and growing personally and also as a small business owner.

In March of 2021 Devon and her friend Courtney, owner of 84 Photography, sat on Courtney's porch drinking wine one night talking about life. Devon talked about the dream of opening the holistic health center for women and Courtney talked about also holding a safe space for women. They sat there and spoke this dream into the universe in hopes that within five years they would be teaming up and opening a place together. Fast forward to today only 2 years later, December 2023, the dream was becoming a reality.

Devon has expanded her business to a new and larger location offering more for women and others in the community to have a safe space to come home to themselves, reclaim their power, and heal with the help of holistic health tools.
